CHILD WELFARE

 

The York & District Senior League fully embraces the E.C.B’s Child Welfare Policy.
Member clubs are required to fully implement the requirements of the Policy.

THE LEAGUE is required to:

  • Appoint a League Child Welfare Officer who is required to:
    • Act as Child Welfare Officer in respect of League Representative games and any other junior orientated functions organised by the League
    • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date register of Club Child Welfare Officers and ensure that all clubs comply with the requirements
    • Maintain a register of League Officers’ and Committee Members’ Child Welfare certification

CLUBS are required to:

  • Appoint a Club Child Welfare Officer who must possess a valid CRB Enhanced Disclosure
  • Ensure that all regular umpires, scorers, coaches and other persons regularly coming into contact with junior members possess a valid CRB Enhanced Disclosure
  • Ensure that persons coming into contact with junior players on a non-regular basis complete an approved self-declaration form.
  • Be satisfied with regard to the credentials of their members
  • Make appropriate enquiries in relation to the background of any potential new members
  • Display the name of their Child Welfare Officer within their clubhouse
  • Be aware of the correct procedure for dealing with a Child Welfare issue
  • Compile and regularly update a Register of Junior Players
  • Control photography of juniors and ensure safe travel arrangements
  • Maintain a fully equipped first aid box and provide access to an emergency phone at all times

 

CLUB CHILD WELFARE OFFICERS  are required to:

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date register of members involved with their clubs junior membership. Such a register must show names and addresses of all involved adults, together with their CRB Declaration number.
  • Hold copies of all self-certification forms
  • Deal with any Child Welfare issues promptly and within the YCB’s procedure

 

IN THE EVENT OF A CHILD WELFARE ISSUE OCCURRING CLUBS MUST CONTACT THE YORKSHIRE CRICKET BOARD’S CHILD WELFARE OFFICER IMMEDIATELY
