Woodhouse Grange Cricket Club won the YDSCL Intermediate League Cup Final on Sunday when they beat Fenner by 78 runs in the pleasant surrounds of Londesborough Park Cricket Club, whose Committee did a first class job in staging the Final - a personal big "thankyou" to all concerned.

Woodhouse skipper Chris Bilton won the toss and elected to bat and led his side from the front with an undefeated 51 from 68 balls, including 8 fours, whilst brother Andrew Bilton (54 retired) chipped in with another unbeaten half century. Chris Suddaby (32) and Matthew Shepherd (35 not out) also made useful contributions as the victors rattled up a healthy 215 for from their 40 overs.

The Fenner innings was quickly in disarray as they collapsed to 15 for 4, Ashley Cattle (4 for 15) grabbing all 4 wickets, and the Marfleet reply fell away to 137 all out despite the valiant efforts of Joe Elliott (42), under-15 player Ryan Preen (39) and 12 year-old wicket keeper batsman Ben Hatfield (11 not out).

League President George Myerscough presented the trophy to the victorious Woodhouse Grange Captain Chris Bilton at the end of the game whilst Londesborough Park Groundsman Phil High adjudged the Man of the Match Award, which went to Ashley Cattle for his lethal bowling spell at the start of the Fenner innings.

League Managing Secretary Albert Pattison congratulated Woodhouse Grange on winning the trophy for the first time and commiserated with Fenner who have won the trophy on two occasions and have now twice been runners-up. He congratulated both sides on their impeccable sporting behaviour.
