INTERMEDIATE LEAGUE RULES

1. Title

Hunters York & District Senior League Intermediate Section

2. Constitutional Standing

The league will operate under the umbrella of the Hunters York & District Senior League

3. Management of the League

The Competition shall be administered by the Management Committee of the York & District Senior Cricket League. The League Managing Secretary will be overall responsible for ensuring the effective operation of the League and the League Officers shall undertake appropriate duties.

4. Meetings

The Annual Meeting will be held in January of each year. All the member clubs are required to send a representative.

5. Membership - Eligibility

  1. All member clubs of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League
  2. Any club within the geographical area covered by the Y&DSCL whose ground , facilities and administration  have been approved by the York & District Senior League Committee
  3. An 'alliance' of two or more clubs pooling their resources to form a team.
  4. The League Management Committee shall have the right to reject applications from clubs whom they deem to be unsuitable for whatever reason.

6. Finance

  1. The league is required to be financially self-sufficient, but may benefit from the Y&DSCL by way of administrative running costs.
  2. Funds generated by the Intermediate Section will be ring-fenced within the York Senior League’s financial structure
  3. Any accrued surplus funds may be utilised to promote junior cricket within the York Senior League
  4. An annual subscription, payable by 1st March, of £25 will be paid by all participating clubs. This will be reviewed annually at the Annual General Meeting

7. Format

  1. Teams will be allocated on a regional basis.
  2. Divisional format will be adjusted each season in order to accommodate member clubs.
  3. Teams will meet each team in their division once. Where possible fixtures will be reversed in the following season.
  4. If more than one division is in operation, play-off games will take place at the end of the season as follows:
    1. Where two divisions operate - The game between the two divisional leaders will determine the overall champion.
    2. Where three divisions operate, the tree divisional leaders plus the runner-up having obtained the highest percentage of league points shall compete in a knock-out draw with the winner of the final becoming champions
    3. The Final ‘play-off’ game will be played on a neutral venue
  5. The points system will be that used in the Y&DSCL.
  6. All matches will be of 40 overs per side.

8. Fixtures

  1. All matches will be played on Sundays and will be fixed by the League Committee
  2. Matches may be played one week earlier, or one week later, by mutual agreement between the two clubs. However, where such an agreement cannot be reached, the match will be played on the original scheduled date.
  3. Any game which is abandoned without any play due to adverse weather or ground conditions may be rearranged up to two weeks later by mutual agreement between the two clubs. If such agreement is not reached, the game will be regarded as a draw. Once a game has been started, no re-arrangement is permissible
  4. When compiling fixtures every effort will be made to avoid clashes with Joe Lumb fixtures, league cups, and national knockout competitions.
  5. Host clubs are required to provide adequate teas for two full teams plus umpires and scorers at a maximum charge of £33 for the visiting team (inclusive of umpire and scorer)

9. Players Eligibility

  1. Players must be bone fide members of the club, or clubs in an alliance team, and  must be properly registered before appearing in a game.
  2. All teams must field a minimum of eight under 18 players (Effective date is 1st September in previous year)
  3. No more than one of the three senior players may be regular players from the following leagues - Y&DSCL Premier, 1st, or 2nd Divisions, East Yorkshire Alliance Premier Division, Scarborough Becket League 1st Division, York Vale League 1st Division.
  4. Regular players in the ECB Yorkshire League, or other recognised ECB Premier League are not eligible
  5. Overseas, contracted, and  First Class players are excluded. (Y&DSCL definitions apply)
  6. The Captain must be an Under 18 player.

10. Playing Conditions

  1. Games will consist of 40 overs per side; any unused overs from the 1st innings will be added to the second innings.
  2. Matches will commence at 2pm
  3. In the event of a delayed start or interruption by the weather, one over per side will be lost for each six minutes of delay.
  4. No player may bowl more than 8 overs in a game - ECB junior bowling restrictions apply.
  5. The first ten overs of an innings must be bowled by junior bowlers.
  6. The total overs per innings to be bowled by open-age players is limited to 15
  7. At no time may two open-age bowlers operate in tandem
  8. All batsmen must retire having reached 50 runs, but may return to the crease following the fall of the last wicket, and in the order that they retired should there be more than one batsman retire.
  9. No open age player may bat in the top four and six juniors must bat in the top seven
  10. No open age player may fill the role of wicket keeper

11. Player Registrations & Transfers

  1. Clubs are required to register their players prior to the start of the season. (NB – Players on Y&DSCL Registration List are automatically regarded as ‘registered’)
  2. Clubs who are not members of the York Senior League will be required to register their players via e-mail to the Registration Secretary
  3. Transfers must be granted by the Intermediate League Secretary unless the official transfer form is utilised. Players can be added during the season. All transfers must be made prior to the last 2 Intermediate League games of the season.

12. Umpires & Scorers.

Each team will be required to provide a capable umpire and scorer. The York Senior League will provide neutral umpires for the championship play-off semi-finals and final

13. Submission of Results

Results must be submitted via the ECB Play-Cricket service by Wednesday of the week following the fixture.
Clubs failing to forward results in accordance with requirements may suffer a financial penalty.

Score Cards must be fully completed to show:

    1. Names of all 11 players
    2. Ages of all under 18 players
    3. Identify captain and wicket-keeper
    4. Accurate information regarding players batting, bowling and fielding performances

14. Discipline

 The disciplinary rules currently operating within the Y&DSCL shall apply.

15. Cricket Balls

Each side taking the field must provide its own ball, which need not be a new one, but must be a quartered leather ball, conforming in all aspects to the ECB laws of cricket, and must be a Grade A ball of British manufacture.

16. Other Rules

With the exception of the rules listed above the competition will be governed by the current York & District Senior League Rules .

SEMI-FINAL PLAY-OFFS AND FINAL - Special Conditions

In order to determine the “League Champions” play-offs involving the top teams will take place. As these games are on a knock-out basis, rather than for league points, it is important that a result is obtained and the following rules, based on the Hunters’s Premier Cup Rules, shall apply:
