Report by Norman Pearson The York Senior League Joe Lumb XI reached the Final of the competition when they defeated Barnsley at Clifton Alliance. Barnsley elected to bat and were looking comfortable until Andrew Simpson had Ogden caught on the boundary for 72 out of 100 for 3wkts in the nineteenth over. Spinners, Simpson (6-28) and Karl Carver (3-31) then took over and dismissed Barnsley for 129. York batted solidly, with Matthew Hattee (39) and Charlie Elliott (34no) being the main contributors, and passed the total for the loss of four wickets, for an emphatic victory. They now face North Yorkshire, at Stamford Bridge, in the Final on Sunday 28th August, attempting to retain the trophy they won last season. |
