A magnificent century
by Acomb's Andy Tute set up a 158 run victory for the
Hunters York Senior League over The Dales Council and
enabled the York side to qualify for the final of the
Nixon Yorkshire Inter-League K.O. Competition which they
last won in 2006.
Batting first at
Drighlington the York openers Andy Tute and Matt Beckett
of Stamford Bridge put their side in total command with
a 171 run opening stand which was totally dominated by
Tute. When he was out after hitting nine sixes in a 101
ball innings he had amassed 151 which is believed to be
a record score for a York player in a representative
game. His parner Matt Beckett made 39 before the innings
was further boosted by Goole Town's neil Foster whose 41
helped York reach a total of 305-7. Ali Asgher, with 3
for 70, was the most successful bowler for the host
league.
In reply G Suri hit 65
for the Dales Council but a good all-round bowling
display had them all out for 147. Richard Medforth
(Hornsea) emerged with the best return of 3 for 33
whilst Tute added 2-15 to his earlier heroics and there
were two wickets apiece for Thirsk's Dave Towse 2-35 and
barry sayer of Clifton Alliance who took 2 for 44.
